Cinnamon
Lily & Loaf's Cinnamon essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the bark of Cinnamomum zeylanicum.

Cinnamon is one of the oldest aromatics which has also enjoyed an illustrious history as a spice and medicine. As early as 1500 B.C. it was known in Egypt and Rome and was valued highly as a flavouring, an aromatic in ceremonies and was used in a broad range of medicinal applications.

With a warming, comforting effect it works well for aching sore muscles and joints, and has a soothing tonic effect on the mind and body. Cinnamon oil has antiseptic properties and can be diffused to reduce airborne bacteria.

Clove
Clove oil is extracted usually by steam distillation from the flower bud of the Eugenia caryophyllata tree, which is native to Indonesia and the Malacca islands. Cloves were popularly used in ancient India and China. It is believed that ancient Chinese medicine used cloves to treat many conditions.

Clove oil can be used to soothe and relieve skin concerns, and can be a benefit to sore, aching joints.  It is considered valuable for relieving respiratory problems, and is reputed to be valuable for the digestive system. It is a commonly used in dentistry for its pain-relieving effect.  In aromatherapy, this essential oil stimulates the mind and may act as an aphrodisiac. It reduces mental exhaustion and fatigue, and induces sleep in insomniacs. This is a potent oil which should very diluted when used in aromatherapy.

Frankincense
Frankincense essential oil is steam distilled from the resin of the Boswellia carterii tree, and was, along with myrrh, the first gum to be used as incense. Ancient Egyptians burned frankincense as holy incense and used it as a face mask. The earliest record of frankincense use was found in a tomb inscription from the 15th century BC.

This oil is the most popular in aromatherapy for its calming and healing properties. It is used to tone oily skin, ageing skin and wrinkles. Frankincense essential oil has been used to ease anxiety, stress, and is said to benefit the respiratory system. It is a general tonic and has a calming effect during stressful times. It is most useful during meditation.

Orange
Orange oil is extracted from Citrus sinensis by cold pressing the fruit peel. The orange tree was brought west by Portuguese explorers in the early 16th century. Historically, the peels of oranges have been used in Chinese edicine for a variety of ailments. They remain a vital part of Chinese medicine.

In aromatherapy, this delightful, fruity, refreshing, Sweet Orange is a staple for invoking a fresh, uplifting and invigorating atmosphere. It is a popular oil used in blends intended to help relieve feelings of anxiety and stress as it is believed to have a naturally uplifting effect on the senses. Sweet Orange is frequently used in massage treatments to soothe the symptoms of sports injuries, muscular aches and joint discomfort, and is an overall, refreshing tonic for the skin.

Do not ingest Lily & Loaf Essential Oils. Never use undiluted.

  • Massage or topical add 3-5 drops per 10ml of carrier oil.

  • Vaporiser add 4-5 drops to cold water in a vaporiser.

  • Inhalation add 2-3 drops to hot water, inhale vapour through nose.

  • Bathing add 5-10 drops to water or carrier oil, stir into bathwater.

Cautions Possible skin sensitivity - may cause skin sensitising or irritation. When applying citrus oils do not expose skin to direct sunlight or UV light for 72 hours. External use only. Do not use undiluted on the skin. Avoid contact with eyes, ears, mucus membranes, and sensitive areas. If you are pregnant, nursing, or using prescription medication, consult your Doctor or qualified health care practitioner before using essential oils. Not recommended for use on children under 12 years. Store in a cool dry place, out of reach and sight of children.
